You Can Make a Difference


We do better when we do things together! The volunteer opportunities in the City of Modesto are endless. Whether you want to help out by participating in the three Love Modesto, citywide cleanups or the ongoing volunteering opportunities (see below), you can partner with the City and together we can do great things! To become a City of Modesto volunteer, a Volunteer Application and Waiver must be turned in to Stephanie Smith, Volunteer Coordinator with the City of Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department. Print either the Volunteer Application and Waiver for Adults (PDF) or Volunteer Application and Waiver for Minors (PDF) forms, complete all of the information and provide your signature where necessary.

Court Ordered Community Service


Individuals who need to complete court mandated community service hours may contact Julie Hunter at (209) 342-2248 or jhunter@modestogov.com.   Individuals will be assisting City of Modesto Parks Operations staff with park maintenance and litter collection from thoroughfares.  Some stipulations apply. Must be at least 18 years old. 

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities


In addition to many special volunteer opportunities, the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department offers the following ongoing volunteer opportunities. These projects foster community ownership of parks and facilities and often expedite the development of projects that are not provided for in the annual budget.
