Description: For safety reasons, a plumbing permit is required for all water heater installations and replacements.
Examples: There are very specific code requirements governing where a water heater can be located, when to elevate a water heater, bracing requirements, and temperature and pressure relief valve requirements. A final inspection is required after all work has been completed.
In order to get a permit you will need to pay the necessary permit fees.
Where to go:
1010 Tenth Street, 3rd Floor [Directions]
Please visit our 'Fees' page for current fees
Once your fees have been paid, the Building Safety Division will issue the required permits for your project.
Once your water heater is installed, you will need to schedule an inspection to ensure that the water heater was installed correctly.
To schedule an inspection:
Visit our Building Inspection page
After your final inspection, your project will be considered complete.
