Modesto A's to Relocate

The City of Modesto has been informed that the Oakland Athletics will not be renewing its player development contract as Modesto's California League team.

"Modesto has had a great history with the Oakland A's over the past 30 years," said Mayor Jim Ridenour. "Many major league baseball superstars began their careers here in Modesto and provided many great baseball moments to our citizens. We are saddened to see them relocate."

Modesto will continue to be the home of California League baseball and provide quality family entertainment. The City is looking forward to an exciting announcement from Modesto's minor league baseball franchise regarding the next Major League Baseball affiliate.
