Local Leg of Amgen Tour of California Requires Community Support to Succeed
Americas most important cycling race, the Amgen Tour of California is a unique eight day rolling festival that has already become one of the nations largest and most recognized cycling events. The Amgen Tour of California is a race to rival the Tour de France with over 100 professional cyclists from around the world -- and it is coming to our community.
The Amgen Tour of California travels with an entourage of over 1,000 and receives coverage from over 400 credentialed media; last year the race was viewed in 140 countries worldwide. The City of Modesto has been chosen to host the Stage Three start of this event giving the community an opportunity to show the world what Modesto and its citizens have to offer. The Local Organizing Committee is charged with raising approximately $50,000 for the event.
"Modesto is honored to host a stage start for the 2008 Amgen Tour of California," said Mayor Jim Ridenour.
"Now we need the community to step up to the plate and help make this a world-class event so that we are asked to participate again next year."
Longtime community activist and avid cyclist Armando Flores has volunteered to join the fundraising effort.
"This is an excellent opportunity for Modesto's Business Community to support an event that showcases our city," said Flores.
"Sponsorships range from a $100 individual donation to a $15,000 market exclusive donation, so there is something for everyone. Each category provides excellent advertising opportunities, making a donation much more than a good-will contribution."
There are a great opportunities to get involved in the festivities for both corporations and individuals. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor of one of the most exciting events in California. In order to receive full sponsorship benefits, sponsors must be secured by Wednesday, December 12, 2007.
