2008 Amgen Tour of California Volunteer Orientation Thursday, January 31
The Local Organizing Committee for the 2008 Amgen Tour of California will hold a Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, January 31, at 7 p.m., at the Modesto Centre Plaza, 1000 K Street, in the Arbor Room. Volunteers must be available on Wednesday, February 20, from 7 a.m. to noon.
The largest cycling event in America, the Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France-style cycling road race that will challenge the world's top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding 650-mile course from Palo Alto-Stanford University to Pasadena from February 17-24, 2008. Modesto is honored to be the Stage 3 start city. Stage 3 will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, with a neutral start of parade laps through Modesto's revitalized downtown area before heading south through California's scenic farmlands. Over 1.6 million fans attended last years event.
"Community participation is key to making this event a success," said Jennifer Mullen, Local Organizing Committee Co-Chair and Executive Director of the Modesto Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Help us showcase the best of Modesto to an international audience."
