Wastewater Master Plan Supplement Stakeholder Meetings

The City of Modesto adopted its updated Wastewater Master Plan (WWMP) in March of 2007. The 2007 WWMP was prepared using population growth rates available from 2005 through 2006. The plan relied upon anticipated wastewater discharge permit conditions for the Jennings Road Secondary Treatment Facility based on several meetings and lengthy discussions with staff of the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).

Unexpectedly, population growth slowed considerably in the last 12 months, and the Regional Board issued a new tentative waste discharge order (TO) on January 15, 2008, with limits more restrictive than those indicated before now.

Consequently, on April 1, 2008, City staff recommended and City Council approved an agreement with Carollo Engineers to prepare a WWMP Supplement. The supplement will revise the City’s strategic plan to meet these new discharge requirements and accommodate revised growth projections. The capital improvement program will need revision, as will data used to update future wastewater rates.

There are two meetings scheduled to provide information and receive feedback on the WWMP Supplement.
The first meeting will include a presentation by Carollo Engineers to provide information and background on the WWMP Supplement.  This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1 from 1:30-3 p.m. at Tenth Street Place, 1010 Tenth Street in the basement, room B300.

The focus of the second meeting is to collect stakeholder input on the WWMP Supplement.  This meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, from 1:30-3 p.m. at Tenth Street Place, 1010 Tenth Street in the basement, room B300.
