Growing up in a family of six isn't easy, especially when both your parents are unemployed. But instead of giving up, sixteen-year old Amanda Reth got going. Even as her family was being evicted from their home, Amanda found the motivation to become a top honor student, an award-winning journalist, and MVP on her basketball team.
But, believe it or not, that's just the beginning of Amanda's achievements. In addition to being a member of the Enochs High School Key Club and FFA, Amanda is also in Pura Vida, the program that assists kids with autism, and she volunteers tirelessly for her church's Bible School and special event programs.
It’s the resilience of teens like Amanda Reth that inspire this program. Amanda's nominating teacher calls her "the most reliable, hard-working student I have ever known." We call her a shining example of what a Mayor’s Top Teen should be.
