Amgen's Breakaway Mile, honors cancer survivors everywhere. Those touched by cancer – patients, survivors, caregivers and advocates – are invited to join in a one-mile (approximate) walk across the Amgen Tour of California Modesto Stage 4 finish line, prior to the professional riders on May 19, 2010.
A special VIP reception and the Gallo Center for the Arts will be held for those walking in the Breakaway Mile. The reception will begin at noon and will showcase valuable resources and services offered by Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer nonprofit partners. The Breakaway Mile begins at 1 p.m. and afterward, participants will be invited to view the exhilarating finish from a reserved VIP viewing area.
“This is a great opportunity show our local support in the cancer community,” stated Modesto’s Breakaway from Cancer representative Joey Prescott. “Please sign up and join the Breakaway from Cancer initiative. What a great way to give back to the community with your support in the Breakaway Mile.”
The Breakaway Mile will be held in conjunction with the Cancer Survivor Art Display and the Breakaway from Cancer Village at the Gallo Center for the Arts. To register for the event, participants can visit www.amgentourofcalifornia.com/breakawaymile. Space limited to the first 150 registrants.
