Police Chief Swearing-In Ceremony to be Held Tuesday

The City of Modesto invites the public to attend the swearing-in ceremony of our newest Police Chief.  This is an opportunity for you to meet and welcome Chief Galen Carroll as he takes over the top position within the Modesto Police Department.   


The official swearing-in ceremony of Modesto’s new Chief of Police Galen Carroll will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, in the City Council Chambers, located in the basement of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th Street.  Carroll will be sworn-in to the Office of the Chief of Police in a brief ceremony which will include comments from Mayor Garrad Marsh and City Manager Greg Nyhoff as well as a pinning ceremony.


Chief Carroll brings more than 18 years of law enforcement experience with him to Modesto.  He has a wide variety of experience which includes Field Training, Internal Affairs, Post Security, Administration, Field Support and Investigations within the City of Long Beach Police Department which is an ethnically and economically diverse community similar to Modesto.  Over the past two years he was appointed as the Police Commander of the North Patrol Division in Long Beach.


Chief Carroll earned his Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership at Chapman University in Orange, CA.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and has also graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA.
