City of Modesto Business Recycling Award Winners

Local Businesses Promoting Sustainability

Each year, the City of Modesto recognizes local businesses and organizations for their waste reduction efforts, innovations in recycling and ongoing efforts to make their business more green and sustainable.  This year’s applicants challenged themselves not only to be “greener”, but to incorporate the reduce-reuse-recycle lifestyle each and every day.

The winners for their commitment in 2012 to both the environment and the community we live, work and play in are:

  • Boyett Petroleum
  • Center for Human Services
  • Community Business College
  • Community Hospice – Hope Chest Thrift Stores
  • DoubleTree By Hilton Modesto
  • Habitat For Humanity - ReStore
  • Memorial Medical Center
  • Modesto Junk Company
  • United Cerebral Palsy of Stanislaus County

Together, these organizations have reduced energy through innovation, repurposed items for resale and donation, recycled materials for future use, job creation and awareness that we are all responsible for doing our part as we continue to move forward to being “green” and creating a sustainable community for future generations.

Please join us in recognizing these businesses at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 5:30p.m.  Congratulations to all of the winners!
