3/27/14 UPDATE: Work completed to-date includes: (1)weeding and cleaning of freeway entrances and exits into Downtown Modesto compliments of youth from Morningstar Church in Salem, Oregon; and (2) the utility box at 10th and J Street was art-wrapped today courtesy of Harold Avila of Never Boring Design who donated the materials and labor; Jordi Camps of Picasso's Art and Deli donated the art for the art wrap. Tomorrow, Chad Kennedy, Landscape Architect with O'Dell Engineering, will be installing the new plant materials per his design; Bob Barzan of the Modesto Art Museum donated the funding for the enhancements of the planters. Next week, new bistro tables, chairs and market umbrellas will be placed in the parklets following the anticipated rain. This project is being brought to the community by the Downtown Modesto Partnership.
A group of volunteers will be doing some spring cleaning downtown this week by refreshing the parklets on the corner of 10th and J Streets. The refresh will include fresh paint, planter enhancement, new bistro sets and market umbrellas, as well as a display of public art. The project was organized by the Urban Design Group of the Downtown Modesto Partnership. The work will be ongoing throughout the week, weather permitting.
