Recognition for the City of Modesto’s Industrial Pretreatment Program


2013 Certificates of Merit

At the May 6th City Council Meeting the City of Modesto Public Works Department Wastewater Division Environmental Compliance Section was pleased to recognize the achievements of six local industries who have demonstrated outstanding compliance with the Industrial Pretreatment Program.  Each has gone above and beyond expectations to work with City Staff as a partner in compliance.

Foam Fabricators was recognized for having no violations or compliance issues during 2013.This is the second year in a row they have been selected for this recognition. 

Squab Producers of California successfully addressed the cause of recurring pH violations in 2013; it was recognized as being proactive.  In order to address the recurring pH violations, they installed a pH neutralization system and pumps which recirculate out-of-compliance wastewater until it is brought within permitted limits.  In addition, staff typically contacts ECS very early on in the problem identification process, and has made significant progress in reducing Notices of Violation.

G-3 Enterprises – Closure Division was recognized for having no violations or compliance issues during 2013.  In addition, ECS wanted to acknowledge Steve Sylvester as an example of an industry representative that has fostered a cooperative relationship between G-3 and the City’s Pretreatment Program.

Modesto Plating and Powder Coating was recognized for having no violations or compliance issues during 2013.  Modesto Plating  and  Powder Coating has been serving the Modesto area since 1968 by providing quality plating and powder coating finishes on many different products; from small prototypes to large production runs.

Georgia Pacific was recognized for having no violations and for the significant improvement in reducing issues with their wastewater. Georgia Pacific was selected as one of the City’s industrial partners that have demonstrated outstanding environmental compliance for 2013.  This is the second year in a row that Georgia Pacific has been selected for this recognition.

Bunge Oils was recognized for the significant improvement in reducing issues with their wastewater. Bunge has been selected as one of the City’s industrial partners that has worked collaboratively with ECS to monitor and optimize efficiency of their pretreatment DAF system which in turn drastically reduced loading to the City wastewater system.
