Foster Farms Dairy, producer of Crystal dairy products, announced today that it has chosen to once again host Modesto’s Celebration of Lights Parade and Downtown Extravaganza. The festivities will occur Saturday, December 5, with the Downtown Extravaganza, to include the Farmer’s Market and Dickens Faire, beginning at 9 a.m. and the Parade beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Parade Committee Chair Mary Otten stated, “We are absolutely thrilled to have Foster Farms Dairy back as our presenting sponsor. They have a long-standing tradition of giving back to the community.” In honor of their support, parade organizers announced that Foster Farms Dairy’s own Crystal the Cool Cow will lead the parade through Downtown Modesto for the second year in a row.
Founded by Max and Verda Foster, Foster Farms Dairy opened its doors in Modesto in 1941. A full supplier of local, fresh dairy products, Foster Farms is still family owned and operated today and employs over 850 valley residents. The Crystal brand also has a long history in the golden state going back more than 100 years. Crystal became part of the Foster Farms Dairy family of brands in 2007. “We look forward to once again hosting this fun family event,” commented Jeff Foster, grandson of the founders and CEO and President of the Dairy.
Each year the parade draws thousands of spectators to the downtown area. The theme of this year’s Celebration of Lights Parade and Downtown Extravaganza is “Hollywood Holidays.” The Celebration of Lights Parade will begin at 15th and I Streets and will follow I Street to 10th Street, over to J Street and back down to 15th Street. Streets in and around the parade area will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. and will re-open at approximately 7:30 p.m.
