City Council Appoints Kristin Olsen Vice Mayor
The City of Modesto is pleased to announce the appointment of Councilmember Kristin Olsen as Vice Mayor, succeeding Councilmember Garrad Marsh. The Vice Mayor serves as Mayor in the event the Mayor is absent.
Elected to the City Council in December 2005, as a Councilmember, Vice Mayor Olsen serves as Vice-Chair of the Finance Committee and currently serves on the Safety & Communities Committee after serving her first two years on the Economic Development Committee. Olsen also serves on the City-County Liaison Committee and is a steering committee member of the Paradise South: Gateway to Change Weed & Seed project. Prior to her election, Olsen served on the City’s Planning Commission and on the Citizens Housing and Community Development Committee.
In addition to her position as Vice Mayor, Olsen is the Assistant Vice President for Communications & Public Affairs at California State University, Stanislaus, where she directs media relations, government relations, publications, and visual branding including graphic design, web design, and photography services.
Born and raised in Modesto, Olsen and her husband moved back to Modesto in 2001 where they are raising their three young children.
