The Modesto Police Department is Investigating two Incidents were a Male Attempted to Lure Women in His Car.

On 01-23-2013, Modesto Police Officers were dispatched to investigate two separate reported incidents of a male trying to lure women into his car at the Plaza Parkway shopping center located at 2225 Plaza Parkway. In the second incident the suspect brandished a handgun.

The first incident was reported at 5:26 p.m. A female was parked in her car when she noticed the suspect driving around in the parking lot. The female parked her car and the suspect parked next to her. The suspect then tried to open the female’s door in an attempt to get her to go with him. The female was able to drive away and leave the area.

At 8:58 p.m. another woman called police to report she had been parked near the Kohl’s Department Store when she observed a car move from a parking space to another parking space located directly in front of her car. The woman thought this was unusual and she decided to leave. The woman drove away and the suspect followed her in his car. The woman drove in and out of several parking isles and the suspect continued to follow her. The woman pulled into a parking space to see if the suspect would continue on. The suspect stopped behind the woman’s car partially blocking it in. The woman reversed out and the suspect allowed her to pull out of the parking space.

As the woman was driving away the suspect pulled up alongside her driver’s side. The suspect brandished a handgun and yelled at her to get out of her car. The woman drove off and the suspect followed her for a short distance.

In both incidents the suspect was driving a late 90’s or early 2000’s Silver, Chevrolet Corvette. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s or 30’s with a muscular build and a short crew cut hair style. He is believed to have dark colored hair.

Surveillance footage and a photograph of the vehicle is included below.
