Modesto, CA- Come see some of the best law enforcement canine teams from across Northern California, as they compete for the title of “Top Dog”. This will be the 31st Annual Police Canine Trial, which is sponsored by the Modesto Police Canine Association and sanctioned by the Western States Police Canine Association.
The Western States Police Canine Association is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to promote professionalism and safety for all working police canine teams. One of the ways the WSPCA achieves this mission is by sanctioning police canine competitions across California and Nevada. These competitions are intense, real-life, street scenarios which include Obedience, Agility, Search, Protection, and Narcotic Detection. The police service dogs and their handlers are evaluated on how well they are able to compete in each phase of the competition. At the end of the competition season, the scores of the canine teams are tallied up and ranked based on their overall rating.
This year the trial will be held at the Stanislaus Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy and admission into the event is free. The Modesto Police Canine Association will be selling drinks and food for those interested. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and umbrellas, as the event will be held in the open grass field of the training center.
Saturday May 18th
The trial will begin at 9 A.M. starting with the Obedience, Agility, and Search Phases. The popular Protection Phase will begin sometime in the afternoon.
