Shooting in West Modesto is a Homicide

Modesto Police Respond to a Shooting in West Modesto.

On 05-30-13, at about 2:00 p.m. the Modesto Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 100 block of Maple St. When officers arrived they located a black male adult suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers began CPR as they waited for medical personnel. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Witnesses observed several males running away soon after hearing the sound of gunshots. It is unknown what their involvement is at this time. The victim appears to be in his twenties and at this point he has not been positively identified. Detectives have still not determined a motive.

***Update*** The victim in the above shooting died of his injuries at about 3:00 a.m. this morning.  He has been identified as, Sir Jay Louis Taylor, 25 years old of Modesto.
