Investigators Warn Residents of Serial Cat Burglar
Modesto, CA- Detectives from the Modesto Police Department are warning residents of a serial cat burglar, who is committing burglaries while victims are home.
In three recent burglaries, victims have reported waking up to find an unknown man in their home. The victims have described the suspect as a black male, approximately 40-years-old, 5’08” to 6’00”, 160 to 180 pounds with black hair. No weapons were seen and no threats were made toward the victims. It appears the suspect made entry into each of the three residences through unsecured windows.
Detectives are encouraging you to be vigilant in your neighborhood. Get to know your neighbors, watch out for one another and report suspicious activity to police. You can also lessen your chances of being a victim by taking these steps to better secure your home:
· Lock all doors and windows. Not just when you leave for the day, but also at night or when you leave a room.
· Set your alarm. If you have a house alarm, use it. Set it when you leave for the day and when you go to bed at night.
· Keep your residence well-lit. Porch lights are important to keep on throughout the night. It is also good to have motion sensor lights on the side and in the rear of your residence.
· Lock side and alley access gates.
