Pedestrian in Serious Condition after Traffic Collision

MODESTO, CA- On Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 6:33 PM a pedestrian suffered serious injuries resulting from a collision with a vehicle.
The pedestrian was crossing northbound from the south side of the intersection of Merle Avenue and Woodcrest Way. A 2008 Honda Odyssey traveling westbound on Merle Avenue struck the pedestrian as he was crossing.
The pedestrian, Patrick Lonowski, 56-years-old, of Modesto, was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for a broken leg and a head injury. He is listed in serious condition. The driver of the Honda Odyssey, John Woolard, 53-years-old, of Modesto, was not injured as a result of the collision.
The initial investigation suggests neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this collision. A comprehensive collision investigation is under way in order to determine the cause of this collision.
