School Burglars Arrested

 

Modesto, CA- October 4, 2013, at about 5:30 a.m., Modesto Police Officer’s arrested two suspects who were in the middle of stealing power lines from several classrooms at Beard Elementary School, 915 Bowen Avenue.     

Brice Page, 20 years-old of Modesto, and Scott Carey 26 years-old of Modesto, had cut the power to several portable classrooms on the campus and were preparing to pull several feet of copper wire from its conduit.  In doing so the alarm to the school was activated and officer’s surrounded the campus.  Both suspect’s ran from police but were captured a short time later in the area.  Both were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for commercial burglary, criminal conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. 

The cost of repairs has not yet been calculated but it estimated to be several thousand dollars.  The cost of repairs in these types of cases is usually many times higher than the actual value of the metal that is taken. 

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.  Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.  Tipsters can also text information to Crime Stoppers by sending a text message to 274637.  Just type “TIP704” along with your message.
