Police want to question suspicious man

Modesto, CA- On October 11, 2013, at about 8:30 a.m., a 13-year-old boy walking to the bus stop, reported he was contacted by a man in a van.  This occurred near East Morris Avenue and Castle Street.

The boy told investigators the van pulled alongside him and the driver asked him if he wanted a ride.  When he didn’t respond to the suspect, he then told him to “get in the car.”   He described the driver as a White male in his thirties with brown hair and a brown goatee.  The suspect was driving a white Volkswagen van with black or brown trim.  The boy then ran home and told his parents who called the police.  As this investigation continues police ask parents to encourage their children to never talk to strangers and to run to safety if something similar happens to them.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.  Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.  Tipsters can also text information to Crime Stoppers by sending a text message to 274637.  Just type “TIP704” along with your message.
