PEDESTRIAN KILLED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A TRAIN


Modesto, CA – A 25 year old man was killed in downtown Modesto after he was stuck by a passing train. 

 

At about 7:45 am Modesto Police were called to “I” Street between 8th and 9th Streets to investigate a report of a man being struck by a train.  Witnesses say the victim walked past the railroad crossing arm with his head down, carrying a bag of aluminum cans, and in front of the engine while the train horn was activated.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

 

Traffic on “I” Street was blocked for a short period of time while emergency personnel assessed the scene.

 

It is unknown if this was an accidental death or suicide.  The investigation is ongoing.
