On Thursday, December 19, 2013, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Michael Peter Oneill Jr. 32 years from Ripon, CA., for Assault with a Deadly Weapon along with enhancements associated with “Road Rage”. The incident occurred on October 4, 2013 at approximately 4:00 p.m., during heavy traffic. The suspect chased the victim through residential streets, in northwest Modesto, at high speeds placing the victim and public in danger. The suspect was driving a 4-door, 2012 Jeep Rubicon. Oneill is aware of the outstanding arrest warrant and is taking active steps to avoid arrest. Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance regarding Oneill’s current whereabouts.
Oneill who is a self-admitted gang member has been identified as a close associate of Praveen Singh 34 years. Singh was arrested on November 27, 2013, for the following charges; Attempted shooting at an Inhabited House, Soliciting the Commission of a Shooting of an Inhabited House and Soliciting the Commission of a Robbery.
On March 30, 2012, Turlock resident Korey Kauffman was reported missing by concerned family members. The information gathered led investigators to believe the victim had possibly been murdered. As a result, a joint task force comprised of investigators from the Modesto Police Department, Turlock Police Department, Ceres Police Department, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, California Department of Corrections Special Service Unit and Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office was formed.
On August 22, 2013, the victim’s body was recovered in an isolated area of Mariposa County. Investigators have reclassified the investigation to a homicide and are actively following up on leads. This is a long term investigation where hundreds of witnesses have been interviewed.
