Modesto’s CIO to take IT helm at the City of Oakland

Modesto, CA - The City of Modesto announced Thursday that Bryan M. Sastokas, the City’s Chief Information Officer, will be leaving to accept the CIO role for the City of Oakland.
Sastokas was responsible for leading the City’s technology initiatives, as well as the adoption of regional technology throughout multiple public and private agencies.
“I have seen many people make their mark on our City. While Bryan’s technical vision and leadership has moved the City forward, it is his honesty, determination and drive that will be missed,” Greg Nyhoff, Modesto’s City Manager, said. “There is no doubt that Bryan has kept our City in a constant pursuit of excellence. He is the personification of the entrepreneurial spirit that drives all of us to win each and every day.”
Under Sastokas’ leadership, the City managed the successful implementation of its Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) initiative, and he was a member of the executive team responsible for the modernization of the Stanislaus Regional 911 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, under the Stanislaus Regional 911 Joint Powers Agreement between Stanislaus County and the City of Modesto.   In addition, the City of Modesto, the City was selected by the Center for Digital Government as a top 10 ranked Digital City for 2011, 2012 and 2013; and, presented the 2012 Quality in IT Practices Award and 2013 Excellence in IT Practices Award by the Municipal Information Systems Association of California.
“I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve this community and will miss its passion. This organization has some of the most innovative people that I have had the pleasure to work with, “Sastokas said. “They are not afraid of implementing new ideas and that is due to the values and commitment from City Manager Nyhoff, Mayor Marsh and the City Council.”
His last day with the City of Modesto is scheduled for January 17th.
