Modesto CA: Fatal motorcycle collision occurred on McHenry Avenue at Coralwood Road

Modesto CA: Fatal motorcycle collision occurred during rush hour traffic on McHenry Avenue at Coralwood Road.
On Monday March 17th, 2014 at around 5:30 PM a motorcyclist was traveling northbound on McHenry Avenue headed toward the intersection of Coralwood Road.
A sport utility type vehicle was traveling southbound on McHenry Avenue and was making a left eastbound turn onto Coralwood Road. The motorcycle and the vehicle collided in the northbound lanes of McHenry Avenue.
The motorcyclist was transported to Doctors Medical Center where he passed away due to his injuries. He has been identified as Michael Trahan and was a 27 year old Oakdale resident. The solo driver in the sport utility vehicle did not have any injuries. He has been identified as Rolando Cruz and is a 37 year old Modesto resident.
The motorcycle being ridden was a 2000 Honda CBR 900. The sport utility vehicle being driven was a 1992 Chevrolet Blazer sport utility vehicle. The motorcyclist was wearing a full face Department of Transportation (DOT) approved helmet at the time of the collision. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the collision.
At this time, no fault or cause to this collision has been determined. As a standard procedure, a comprehensive collision investigation has begun and is in the early stages of the process. Witness statements and physical evidence at the scene will be evaluated before any collision factor or cause will be determined.
