Body Found near Highway 99 off Ramp
MODESTO, CA – On Saturday, May 17, 2014, at approximately 8:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to investigate the report of a dead body found in an open field located on the 300 block of Tuolumne Blvd near the southbound Highway 99 Tuolumne off ramp.
A resident called police after discovering what they believed to be a human body in an open field near their home. The caller said they smelled a foul odor and went outside to investigate where it was coming from. The smell led to an open field next to their house. When the caller got to the source of the smell he noticed what appeared to be a human body.
Detectives were called to the scene and determined the body was that of a male adult. Due to decomposition they were unable get an approximate age or race. The body was collected by the Stanislaus Coroner’s Office and an autopsy will be performed in an attempt to determine the cause of death. The body has not been identified at this time. The incident is being classified as a death investigation.
