Dog Licensing
Stanislaus County
The State of California and the City of Modesto require all dogs be licensed. Residents have 30 days to license dog(s) after moving into the city limits, or after acquiring a new dog, unless the dog is less than four months of age. If the dog is under four months of age, the dog must be licensed within 30 days after receiving its first rabies vaccination. A penalty fee may be charged for failure to comply with the above regulations. Effective October 16, 2002, Stanislaus Animal Services Agency officially began licensing City of Modesto dogs. You may purchase a license at 3647 Cornucopia Way, Modesto. You can also contact them via the Stanislaus County web site at or you can mail payments to Stanislaus Animal Services Agency, License Division at 3647 Cornucopia Way Modesto, CA 95358. Proof of the dogs current rabies vaccination must accompany the application for license, as well as the certificate of spay or neuter (if applicable). Dog owners over the age of 65 who can provide proof of their age, such as a driverís license or birth certificate, will receive a 50% discount on licensing fees.
