Fleet Services Division
Fleet Services Superintendent: Dennis Turner
Mission
The mission of the Fleet Services Division is to provide and maintain city vehicles and equipment in a safe
and reliable condition so that each city department can rely on this equipment as they provide services to the
public. To this end, this division serves as a support system to the rest of the city organization as they meet
their respective missions.
About the Division
The Fleet Services Division includes 33 employees working at three different work sites. Eight of these employees
work at the Downtown shop located near the Police Department. These employees are responsible for maintaining
approximately 364 vehicles in the police fleet and other administrative vehicles. In addition, they perform safety
inspections of taxi cabs and also do some contract work for other agencies. Fifteen employees work at the main fleet
shop located at the City’s Corporation yard. This group is responsible for maintaining 569 pieces of heavy duty vehicles
and industrial equipment. Located across from the corporation yard at the Bus maintenance facility the remaining ten
employees maintain and repair the City’s 51 transit coaches. The City of Modesto’s total fleet consists of 984 pieces
of equipment.
