Transportation
The transportation division of the Public Works Department focuses on the movement of people. This is accomplished
through the Modesto City-County Airport, Public Transportation Systems,
Streets, and Fleet Services.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Stanislaus County’s air transportation hub, which is jointly owned
by the City of Modesto and Stanislaus County, and is operated by the City of Modesto. Additional information is available

Fleet Services is responsible providing preventative
maintenance, repair and procurement for City vehicles
and equipment. Additionally, Fleet Services operates three parking garages and ten pay-by-space Parking lots
within the City of Modesto.
Provides public transit service on Modesto Area Express/MAX, Modesto Area Dial-A-Ride,
Modesto ACE Express, and Modesto BART Express. Additional information is available on the

The Streets Division is responsible for maintaining
and repairing potholes, repaving city streets, street
sweeping, maintenance of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and
alleys.
