Bicycling in Modesto
The Modesto area is a great place to enjoy bicycling as both a recreational activity, and as an alternative
means of transportation to commute to work.
We have two community events that occur in May to promote bicycle safety, bicycle commuting, and demonstrate
how bicycling can become a viable form of transportation in decreasing traffic and parking congestion, and help
improve air quality.
In additional the City of Modesto promotes a
Rideshare program to City employees. The goal is
to decrease single-car commutes, which results in
cleaner, healthier air and less traffic congestion.

Bike to Work Day Event
Bike to Work Day is held annually during California Bike
Commute Week. The goal is to encourage citizens to
consider non-motorized methods of commuting to work.
Those who commute by bicycle are treated to a variety of
information tables and a continental breakfast.
City of Modesto Rideshare hosts this event, with
participation from many local businesses and
organizations.
