What We Do
The Laboratory and Environmental Services section of the Wastewater Division is
responsible for ensuring the compliance of state and federal laws associated with discharges permits. Inspections of
permitted facilities and samples are periodically collected to ensure compliance with the
City’s wastewater discharge permits and storm water permits and to protect Dry Creek and the
Tuolumne River, which discharge into the San Joaquin River.
Laboratory Services provides
analytical data to the Wastewater Division that directly supports compliance with the City's
wastewater and storm water permits for all plant reports, stormwater reports, and pre-treatment reports.
In addition, the laboratory also supports the Water Division by
providing nitrate and nitrite analysis and microbiology testing to ensure compliance
with drinking water regulatory requirements.
