Open Enrollment

Selecting a health plan for yourself and your family is one of the most important decisions you will make. This decision involves balancing the premium cost of each plan, along with other features, such as access to doctors and hospitals, pharmacy services, and maximum out of pocket expenses. This is your opportunity to evaluate your needs and determine which plan is right for you and your family for the next year.

Changes made during Open Enrollment will become effective January 1, 2021.

This Open Enrollment period will be from October 1, 2020 through October 30, 2020 .


Effective this Open Enrollment, Employee Benefits will be processing open enrollment through BenXcel. You will no longer need to come to 1010 10th Street to submit your changes for Open Enrollment or a qualifying life event during the year. If you are not making any changes, you do not need to log in. You can log in to view your benefits, but if you are not making changes, you do not need to do anything.

During Open Enrollment you can:
  • Change your health plan
  • Add eligible dependents to your health coverage
  • Delete dependents from your health coverage
  • Discontinue your existing medical plan coverage (provided you have alternate coverage)
  • Enroll in a City sponsored medical plan if you are currently opting out
If you decide to keep your current plan and are not making any changes, you don’t need to do anything. Your current health plan will continue to the next year and your rates will automatically update.
