Mission
The mission of the Blight Abatement Advisory Committee shall be to promote public engagement concerning blight abatement in the community and to make recommendations to the City regarding program improvements, potential funding opportunities, and support with increasing volunteerism

Membership Requirements
- 7 members must be registered voters in Modesto
- 2 must live outside Modesto and be registered voters in Stanislaus County
The Blight Abatement Advisory Committee shall consist of nine (9) qualified persons, comprised of the following:
- Nine (9) members of the Committee shall be registered electors of the City
- Two (2), of the nine, shall live outside the City but shall be registered electors of Stanislaus County, and each will have active involvement or interest in beautifying the City of Modesto.
Preference will be provided to residents from across the community, representing the diverse neighborhoods in Modesto.
No Member of the Committee shall be an employee of the City, nor of any bargaining unit for employees of the City, nor a person who receives compensation from the City.
All appointments to the Committee shall be recommended by the City’s Appointments Committee and approved by the City Council.
No Member of the Committee shall be a relative, by blood or marriage within the third degree of the Mayor, a Councilmember, a Charter Officer, or any Department Director or Deputy Department Director.
All Members must complete a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) by April 1 of each year and when assuming or leaving Committee membership.
