Shelter Project Spotlights

Safe Parking Program

Safe Parking program is a six month pilot program in partnership with Salvation Army to provide a location for safe overnight parking to people living in their vehicle. This program will offer a temporary, overnight, safe location to park for individuals and families living in a vehicle, while providing access to services that will transition them into more stable housing. The City is continuing to explore partnerships with Stanislaus County and private partners to help support the sustainability of the program after six months.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army shelter addresses chronic homelessness for individuals including the elderly and persons with physical disabilities by providing overnight shelter. Shelter services include beds, showers and restrooms for individuals to care for basic hygiene and have a nutritious hot meal. The project serves the homeless population including no income to low- and very low income which impedes ability to secure housing. Services include case management, substance abuse, mental health and physical health needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
