Help shape the future of walking, biking, and rolling in Modesto

What Moves You?

The City of Modesto is developing a Non-Motorized Transportation Plan (NMTP) and the Department of Community and Economic Development (CED) wants to engage with the community.

Non-motorized transportation includes all forms of human-powered transportation, including walking, biking, and rolling (wheelchair/personal mobility device, skateboards, scooters, etc.). The Non-Motorized Transportation Plan (NMTP) will serve as the guiding document for improving walking, biking, and rolling infrastructure across Modesto.

All Modesto residents are encouraged to engage with the NMTP project. In compliance with current COVID-19 social distancing protocols, the City has created a virtual open house for the community to engage with the Plan online. The website provides an overview of the NMTP process, summarizes previous community engagement efforts, and has an interactive map where users can like, dislike, and leave comments on draft pedestrian and bicycle recommendations. The virtual open house is available in both Spanish and English. The open house will be available for public comment through September 26, 2021.

After the virtual open house, the project team will review the comments and produce a revised set of project recommendations. These recommendations will be prioritized and incorporated into the draft NMTP document.  Revised recommendations and the draft NMTP will be available for public review this fall. It is anticipated that the NMTP will be presented to the City Council for adoption before the end of the year. After Plan adoption, the City can begin incorporating projects into future capital improvement and repaving plans seeking grant funding to start implementing the Plan.
