While we may not feel like partying in the midst of the COVID-19 virus, in a way, we're already celebrating. May is Agriculture and Industry month, and during this time of crisis, we've been rallying around our local agriculture businesses like never before. Modesto is rich in industrial power, and let's continue to take advantage of all the wonderful bounty this region has to offer. CITY AND COUNTY FACILITIES REMAIN CLOSED

In coordination with the County, our new target date for allowing access to public buildings is May 18, but that date will only stand if we can put the necessary precautions in place, and we're developing those standards now. Check the City's website for the latest.

UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE

Our utilities crews are continuing essential work functions to provide clean and safe tap water during the pandemic.

If COVID-19 has impacted your ability to pay your utility bill, we can offer assistance, including payment extensions and payment arrangements based on need.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES. The City of Modesto’s COVID-19 Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) provides for deferral of City business taxes, business license fees, and utility payments for up to 90 calendar days from April 30, 2020. The SBAP also provides zero-interest forgivable Emergency Loans under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Emergency Loans can cover up to two months operating expense or a total maximum loan amount of $10,000. To apply, and for more information on eligibility visit www.modestogov.com/SBAP
