HELEN PUTNAM AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
We are excited to share that Operation 9.2.99 Cleanup Project and Dry Creek Trails Coalition, in partnership with the City, were selected as recipients of the 2021 Helen Putnam Award for Excellence from the League of California Cities. The award recognizes the outstanding volunteer efforts and innovations of these invaluable partners that greatly benefit our community. Since 2014, these organizations have transformed the Dry Creek Trail system and the Tuolumne River Regional Park into beautiful, sought-after places to not only visit, but to bring your family to recreate. Congratulations on this well-deserved award!

RIDESHARE WEEK 2021

Rideshare Week will be held October 3-9 giving our community the opportunity to come together and explore alternatives to solo driving in order to reduce road congestion, air pollution, negative effects on our personal health, and the depletion of our natural resources.

During Rideshare Week, Modesto Area Express (MAX) and Stanislaus Regional Transit (StaRT) invite you to explore other ways of getting where you need to go to save money, improve your health, reduce your stress, and preserve our air quality. Public transportation is a great option, but you can also ride a bike, walk, carpool, scooter, or skip. Get creative!

If you are a dedicated commuter who relies on MAX & StaRT commuter services, be sure to enroll in the Emergency Ride Home Program. This service is available to all commuters who register in advance and use alternative transportation at least 3 times each week. Visit Dibsmyway.com or call 1-800-52-SHARE for more information.

HEROIC ACT

On Sunday, September 12, a group of disc golfers were finishing a twilight round of disc golf at East La Loma Park when they spotted a fire in the brush on the hillside adjacent to the new playground. They immediately jumped to action by calling 9-1-1 and then rushed down the hillside into the creek to retrieve water to put out the flames.
