WATER SCHEDULE CHANGES EFFECTIVE NOV 1ST
Two-day watering effective November 1 through March 31, 2022. Odd-numbered addresses can water on Wednesday and Sunday. Even-numbered addresses can water on Tuesday and Saturday.

Outdoor watering accounts for about one-third of the average family's water use. With calls for cities to reduce water consumption by 25% after California's historic drought, cities came up with new ways to encourage efficient water use.

By creating a watering schedule, the City of Modesto has effectively reduced water consumption and maintained sustainable practices. Outdoor watering days are staggered to cut down on daily outdoor water use. This has lessened the daily demand on the high-priority Modesto Subbasin.

Following the watering schedule can also keep your outdoor plants healthy. Watering your lawn and other plants deeply instead of frequently will establish deeper, stronger roots that are more able to withstand drought and result in an overall healthier plant.

CELEBRATE AMERICA RECYCLES DAY

In the spirit of America Recycles Day, we will be showing the award-winning environmental film, JUST EAT IT, free of charge. Seating is limited and reservations are required.

JUST EAT IT is a documentary film about food waste and food rescue. We all love our food! As a society, we watch countless cooking shows, read culinary magazines and foodie blogs. So then, how is it possible that we throw away almost 50% of edible food in the trash?

This film uses humor to dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of what’s in the refrigerator. In a nation where one in 10 people are food insecure, the images they capture of squandered groceries are both shocking and compelling. See the journey the film stars take towards food rescue and the “thrill of the find”. The results have very unexpected consequences.

Join us Monday, November 15, 2021 for one of three showings at 11:30 am, 3:30 pm or 5:30 pm. Free admission and reservations are required. Call Vicki Rice at 209-577-5495 or Janice McClendon at 209-526-6778 to reserve your spot today!
