NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL TECHNOLOGY COMING TO MODESTO
Starting in early 2023, The City of Modesto will begin changing out what are called Protected/Permissive Left Turn signal lights from a five-section light configuration to a four-section configuration. The four-section configuration features a flashing yellow arrow in addition to the standard red, yellow, and green arrows. When illuminated, the flashing yellow arrow allows for waiting motorists to make a left-hand turn after yielding to oncoming traffic.

National studies have found that intersections with flashing yellow arrow signals have 35 % fewer crashes as compared with traditional signals. Flashing yellow arrow signals also have been installed to minimize delay and improve traffic flow by providing more opportunities for motorists to make safe left turns.

This project is expected to start work in Spring 2023 and be completed in Summer 2023.

It’s that special time of the year again Rideshare Week 2022. The S and Turlock Transit fixed routes and commuter routes are free during Rideshare Week! Rideshare Week is an opportunity for the community to come together and explore alternatives to solo driving in order to reduce road congestion, air pollution, negative effects on our personal health and well-being, and the depletion of our natural resources. We invite you to explore other ways of getting where you need to go to save money, improve your health, reduce your stress, and preserve our air quality.
