Volunteers are Still Needed for the Stanislaus County Point-in-Time Count

Stanislaus County is conducting the annual Point-In-Time Count; a survey of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness in our community on January 29, 2026.

Mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), these efforts support effective development of outreach, service planning, and evidence-based policy decisions. Accurate numbers help our city understand the scale of the need and accurately target essential services and resources where they are most needed.

The City of Modesto's Community Development Division collaborates with the Community System of Care (CSOC) and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) teams to use this survey as a tool to measure progress, guide funding decisions, and turn data into meaningful action to enhance the quality of life for individuals experiencing homelessness in our City.

How can you help?

For just a few hours of your time, volunteers will conduct brief surveys with individuals experiencing homelessness and distribute comfort kits (socks, hygiene items, etc.). We need about 300 volunteers.

You must be 18 or Older to participate.
