Additional Red-Light Cameras have been activated.
The City of Modesto's automated traffic safety program continues to roll out at intersections across the city to help reduce light running and prevent crashes.
The Modesto Police Department has activated the red-light cameras in several directions at the following locations:
- Eastbound Briggsmore Ave. at Coffee Rd., activated on March 2nd.
- Eastbound Sylvan Ave. at Coffee Rd., activated on March 10th.
- Eastbound Briggsmore Ave. at Carver Rd., activated on March 20th.
- Eastbound Pelandale Ave. at Carver. Rd., activated on March 20th.
- Northbound Oakdale Rd. at Briggsmore Ave., activated on March 20th.
- Northbound N. Carpenter Rd. at Kansas Ave., activated on March 27th.
After red-light cameras are activated at each intersection, a 30-day warning period will begin. After the 30 days, the program will begin issuing citations for all red-light violations. Drivers who fail to stop for a red light may receive a citation.
The red-light cameras operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and all violations are reviewed and verified by law enforcement before a citation is issued.
Additional intersections will go live in phases, and the Modesto Police Department will announce when red-light cameras are activated.
