North Ninth Street project

North Ninth Street Project Nationally Recognized

The North Ninth Street project was selected for publication as one of six projects all over the nation in the Rethinking Streets for Bikes publication.
Modesto’s two community college campuses are two miles apart and divided by a freeway and railway. The new cycle track provides cyclists with safe, comfortable connectivity. Approximately 25 to 30 percent of Modesto residents do not own cars which makes this project extremely important for commuters who require diverse transportation options around our city. Mike Sacuskie and Phillip Soares from CED contributed to this publication. This project’s success was due in part to the involvement of bicycle clubs and advocates that drew the attention of our leaders in city hall. [
