REGIONAL BEST PROJECTS AWARD

Congratulations to the City of Modesto Utilities Department and its project team for receiving the Engineering News Report’s Award of Merit, for its portion of the North Valley Regional Recycled Water Program (NVRRWP), as one of the top 2019 Regional Best Projects in Northern California. This project consists of a new recycled water pump station, a ½ mile horizontal directional drill under the San Joaquin River, 7 miles of pipeline, a highway crossing and an outfall structure. This was the first Design-Build project for the City, and was completed on time and within budget. The NVRRWP currently delivers almost 15 million gallons per day of recycled water into the Delta Mendota Canal year-round, for both agricultural and environmental beneficial uses.

TRAFFIC SAFETY TIPS

Roads are most slick shortly after rain begins. Over time, oil, gas, and fuel will form a thin layer on the top of the roadway surface. This is especially true near intersections where vehicles are frequently stopped. As the rain falls and mixes with that film, the roadway can become extremely slick. After a while, the rain will wash away the slick spots, but at first, it's a nasty and slippery combination. These slick spots are the cause of thousands of accidents each year. Be safe out there!
