MODESTO SPIRIT OF GIVING RUN AND FUNDRAISER

The Modesto Spirit of Giving 5K Run benefits many under-privileged residents in the Modesto area. The Spirit of Giving 5k Run will also be hosting a canned food drive. All donations will be given to the Modesto Gospel Mission to feed the hungry this holiday season. Canned or non-perishable food items can be dropped off at one of the following bins: 4th Floor of City Hall in the Parks Department, the Modesto Senior Citizens Center, or the Maddux Youth Center. Donations accepted until December 13th.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS

We need your help with two of our largest events of the entire year. We are now recruiting volunteers for the Downtown Holiday Parade and the Spirit of Giving 5k Fun Run. Volunteer duties include manning barricades, float staging, course monitoring, and volunteer check-in. All ages are welcome to volunteer, anyone under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. DECEMBER LEAF COLLECTION

During the month of December the City of Modesto Green Waste crews only collect leaves left in piles street-side. Please do not place piles of other green waste in the street or alleys again until your scheduled collection time in January 2019. December 13th will be your last opportunity this year to schedule an appointment to have your large bulky items picked-up. All calls received for appointments after December 13th will be scheduled for after January 2020 and will count toward one of your appointments for that year. 2020 ENVIRONMENTAL CALENDAR

The 7th annual Environmental Calendar is now available. This calendar features local photography by local artists, as well as useful tips for sustaining the natural beauty of our local waterways.

The calendars are available for free at the following locations: City Hall Information Desk (1010 Tenth Street), Utilities Department (4th Floor, Front Counter, 1010 Tenth Street), Mistlin Gallery, Modesto Convention & Visitors Bureau, Modesto Police Department, Stanislaus County Library, Modesto Downtown Improvement District, and Modesto Chamber of Commerce. Quantities at each location are limited, so act fast!

FLAG POLE CEREMONY 

Thank you to everyone who attended the Modesto Senior Center Flagpole Dedication Ceremony on November 21st. We are thrilled we were able to make this meaningful addition to our community center. This was a collaborative effort with the Modesto Garden Club, American Volunteer Reserve Honor Guard and the City of Modesto.
