The City of Modesto Parks, Recreation & Neighborhoods Department (PRN) will intake and process Special Event Permit applications effective, immediately. This process was previously overseen by the Community & Economic Development Department (CEDD). CEDD will assist in the transition of this process.
After review, PRN has identified a new process and timeline for applications, ensuring it is as efficient as possible for event organizers. All Special Event Permit applications will now be submitted through an online form. The City of Modesto has also created additional resources to assist applicants through the Special Event Permit application. A Special Event Permit application handbook has been created to help answer any questions applicants may have throughout the permitting process. All these resources can be found on the City of Modesto’s website.
The new timeline now requires an application be submitted no less then 90 days before their event, with all supplemental documents (site map, permits, etc.) due no less then 60 days before your event. While we request event organizers to adhere to this timeline, we will be flexible during this transition.
