[ARCHIVED] Update: More information released in fatal Monday night shooting

Update: The victim of Monday night's shooting has been identified as Muhammad Sharieff of Vallejo.  Detectives are actively investigating what transpired that night and who may be responsible for the deadly shooting.  At this time, no other details will be released.

Prior: At about 11:30 p.m. last night, dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call regarding a shooting in the Regal Cinema parking lot on McHenry Avenue.  When emergency personnel arrived, they found two witnesses providing CPR to a 21-year-old man.  Medical staff rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The early investigation suggests the victim was amongst a group of individuals in the parking lot when the shooting took place.  A motive for the shooting, as well as suspect(s) involved, is still under investigation.

Please note that this release is intended to be a brief update based on preliminary information. As we continue our investigation we welcome any information that would help us better understand what took place. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
