[ARCHIVED] Gunfire and Pursuit in West Modesto

Modesto, CA – On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, around 10:20 PM, officers assigned to the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force (StanCATT), were investigating a vehicle that was possibly stolen.  As StanCATT officers were following the vehicle, an occupant began shooting at them.  The officers pursued the vehicle into the Sutter Avenue and Rouse Avenue area where the occupants ran from the vehicle. 

Three individuals were taken into custody early on and two remain at large.  Joint efforts from surrounding agencies assisted with setting up a perimeter and searching the area.  Resources from all participating agencies were used in an attempt to locate the two outstanding subjects.  The perimeter was opened up this morning around 7:00 AM after all efforts to locate the outstanding individuals were exhausted.  No injuries have been reported due to this incident.

The age and identity of the three subjects detained are not being released at this time due to it being an active investigation.
