City of Modesto Summer Activity Guide is Now Available!

Newsroom Posted on April 11, 2025

It’s time to drop your socks and grab your Crocs because the Parks and Recreation 2025 Summer Activity Guide is here. The Guide highlights all the exciting programs, classes, and activities that will be offered during the 2025 summer season. Activities that invite people of all ages to venture out, whether its utilizing existing skills or learning a new one. If there is one thing that the Activity Guide promises, is that there is truly something for everyone this summer.

Summertime brings hot weather, but with all the aquatic opportunities, there should be no worries trying to cool off. This summer, there are over 18 Aquatic related activities, from recreational swimming to swimming camps. And for those who wish to use their swimming capabilities for the good of others, Lifeguard Training is available throughout the summer season. Swimming this season will never be more accessible, no matter how you swim nor how old.

The programs and classes offered in the Summer 2025 Activity Guide promise just as much diversity, if not more, than the aquatics programs. Jeremy Rogers, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhoods, vocalized this stating, “Our summer programs are designed to provide something for everyone.” With over 40 classes/activities listed in the Activity Guide, there should be no problem for Modesto residents finding something to partake in. “—whether you're a child, a teen, an adult, or a senior. We’re proud to offer a diverse range of activities that cater to all interests, from sports and arts to educational workshops and outdoor adventures.”

There are various classes being offered this summer, youngsters looking to escape the heat and develop their computer science skills, computer classes are available this summer for those 7-17 years old. These different classes will teach how to code mod for Minecraft, use coding to take control of virtual robots, or how to use AI technologies. Or maybe someone is looking to take a step away from technology? If so, there are plenty of artistic programs to consider. Crafting Haven for example, is a weekly session for people ages 16+ that focuses on working on different craft projects during the program.

For those looking for something more active, there is no shortage of activities to partake in. Take tennis lessons with professionals, stretch your body and mind in a yoga class, sign up your kids for a Modesto City Kickers soccer class, or sign yourself up for one of the city’s Adult Soccer Leagues. Perhaps you want to join in on the fastest growing sport in America? Pickleball has been on the rise, and this summer you can learn the fundamentals of the sport. This summer season, a four session pickleball class will be available that will get you into perfect pickleball form.

Families with a future performer can enroll their children in one of the Dance classes being offered this summer. Ages range from 3.5 to 14-years-old with 4 different age groups available, each with their own style of dance. Each week participants will learn new dance skills routines, and stage etiquette. This 2-month program concludes with a performance recital that will be held on August 25 for families to witness the hard work of their children in action.

Of course, the 2025 Summer Activity Guide promises fun for all ages. For Modesto Residents 60+ Years, there are plenty of activities to help keep them busy during the summer season. With over 20+ activities throughout the summer there are plenty of options to help seniors stay engaged with their peers. Seniors can learn new skills, interact with others within their community or participate in excursions.

The programs and activities highlighted above are just a fraction of what is offered in the 2025 Summer Activity Guide. Modesto is full of summer fun and the activity guide reflects that. There are activities for families, friends or individuals who wish to branch out more. Rogers states, “Our goal is to bring people together, foster community spirit, and ensure that everyone can enjoy a fun and fulfilling summer experience.”
