[ARCHIVED] Annual Phone Book Recycling Event

Residents and businesses can “go green” and recycle old phone books by placing them in either their green “organic” waste recycling containers, depending on which service, or in the specially marked collection bins located downtown on 11th Street between J&K Streets, and the Salida Library at 4835 Sisk Road beginning Monday, October 13rd through Monday, October 31st.

Recycling telephone books into new ones helps save our precious resources! Did you know for every 500 phone books recycled, the following resources are saved? 7,000 gallons of water, 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space, 17-31 trees and 4,000 kilowatts of electricity. That’s enough electricity to power an average home for 6 months!

Please do your part, be green, and recycle those phone books! Also, if you prefer, you can opt out of receiving your phone book by going to yellow pages.
