Modesto, CA, July 29, 2024 - 

The City of Modesto continues to work towards producing an Economic Development Strategic Plan.  This initiative will help shape the future of our economy in the City.  It is important that the community is involved in the development of this strategic plan in collaboration with invested stakeholders and industry professionals.  This approach ensures a higher level of economic development expertise and alignment with state-wide economic goals.  

The Economic Development Strategic Plan will provide a comprehensive blueprint for sustainable growth and prosperity in our community.  Below are a list of the upcoming community engagement events that residents in Modesto are encouraged to participate in.   

Community Engagement Events


  • The Central Valley Real Estate Summit, August 7, 2024, 5:30-9:00 pm

The City of Modesto and the Modesto Chamber of Commerce will co-host the Central Valley Real Estate Summit.  An event for real estate professionals from the Central Valley, Bay Area, and Capitol Region. This summit is designed to provide valuable insights, foster connections, and shape the future of our regional real estate market.  At this event we will hear from leading industry speakers and participate in discussions on various topics including real estate trends, housing production, and how municipalities can support real estate investment and development in our community.

  • Community Workshop, August 20, 2024, 6:00-8:00 pm

This virtual workshop will be both informational and interactive, the public’s questions and views are welcome and important. Discussions will involve a review and recommendations from previous Economic Development events. The forum will be virtual on Zoom:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88598580172

Community Economic Development Forum Series

A series of focused forums will be held to address critical and timely economic development issues, encouraging open discussion, collaboration, and development of actionable outcomes to drive economic prosperity in our community. The four forum themes are based on feedback from attendees at the Economic Development Stakeholder Summit in May.  While the disciplines involved are distinct and specialized, they have much in common, including the collaborative dynamic of economic development, regional and state connections, and the same ultimate purpose.  

  • Workforce Development Forum, August 8, 2024, 3:00-5:00 pm

Workforce development is critical for economic success. This forum will address skill gaps, job training, and aligning education with industry needs.  The forum will be virtual on Zoom:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88602327608.

  • Entrepreneurial Development Forum, August 14, 3pm–5pm

The Entrepreneurial Development Forum will provide a platform to discuss strategies for supporting startups, encouraging innovation, and creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem.  The forum will be virtual on Zoom:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85441278689.

  • State Policies and Legislative Agenda Forum, August 28, 3pm-5pm

In this forum, participants will engage in dialogue about state-level policies and legislation that impact jobs and small business.  It’s an opportunity to advocate for favorable policies and address challenges. The forum will be virtual on Zoom:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84530693376.

  • Urban Design and Zoning Forum, August 29, 2024, 3pm-5pm

This forum will focus on shaping the physical environment to promote economic growth. Discussions center around land use, zoning regulations, and urban planning. The forum will be virtual on Zoom:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88469259946.

It is the City’s goal to complete the comprehensive City of Modesto Economic Development Strategy by the end of 2024, aligning with the broader vision of Modesto 2050.  More information on the Economic Development Strategic Plan is at https://www.modestogov.com/3100.
